hosting opportunity

Hosting is a really neat opportunity for you to run a course in your own neck of the woods and not need to travel. With a little bit of leg work and effort, you get to ride free. What is required to host? I’m glad you asked!

  1. The host needs to find a range that fits the requirements of the course they want to host. You can find the requirements for each course listed below.

  2. The host will be the liaison for JBS as we set up your desired course at your local range. If the range needs insurance info, you let me know and I’ll get it to you so you can get it to them, etc. One point of contact for me makes everything so much easier and as such, I’d prefer to do everything through the host if at all possible.

  3. The host needs to provide the targets (USPSA Silhouettes, or printed targets), make sure we have target sticks, stands, and any associated materials to be able to stick targets up. Stuff like spray glue or staplers. The target requirements are listed with the courses below as well.

  4. Every course I teach needs some sort of visual or shooting barricade. Don’t over think this. Blue barrels and net walls or solid walls work perfect for visual barricades and for shooting barricades at the “Out Yonder” course, almost anything you can think of will work.

  5. And finally, the most important part; Promotion. As the course host, I NEED you to help me spread the word about the course to as many people as possible. Almost every course that has ever gotten canceled has been because people didn’t know it was happening and didn’t sign up. Your reach as a person who lives in the area of the course is huge! You already know the shooters, gun shops, and ranges to promote it to without me having to try and reach them through algorithms on social media. The best hosts I’ve ever had sell out classes all the time by making sure there’s interest before hosting, and then pushing the course locally and in the social groups they’re in. It’s pretty simple, but it is absolutely required and expected if you intend to host.

As always, you can email me with any other questions you may have. See y’all on the range!!

Performance Pistol

  • 25 yds deep X 25yds wide shooting range.

  • 100 USPSA Silhouette targets

  • Six 55 gallon plastic drums (blue barrels) or a combination of two to four barrels a net wall or two. I just need visual barricades.

Performance Rifle

  • 50 yds deep X 25 yds wide shooting range. (100 yds deep is preferred if possible.)

  • 100 USPSA Silhouette targets

  • Six 55 gallon plastic drums (blue barrels) or a combination of two to four barrels a net wall or two. I just need visual barricades.

Performance Out Yonder

  • 300 yds deep x 35 yds wide shooting range.

  • MINIMUM of six pieces of rifle rated steel and a maximum of ten. The steel needs to be respectable size. Think: A zone, 6-12” circle, maybe one or two pieces of reduced C zone at most, etc. I can gladly help with this and I also have a very good steel source if you don’t have the targets already.

  • 150 printed B8 repair centers available in the target downloads section of the website

  • 50 printed JBS Practical Carbine Targets available in the target downloads section of the website

  • Minimum of five shooting barricades. These can almost be anything that will support a rifle. Truck mirrors attached to structures, tires, chairs, chain link fence sections, atv’s, old vehicles, shopping carts (better known as “buggy’s” in the south), VTAC walls, PRS barricades, wooden structures, ladders, and the list goes on and on with your imagination.
